Eclectic Design Meets Modern-Industrial
Designing the trendiest or most desired kitchen look is what Chestnut Grove designer Francesco Giampietro hopes to avoid when meeting with new clients. He believes in designing for the personality of the clients over fads or trends. When he met with the owners of this kitchen, Francesco quickly discovered through conversation, that they favoured eclectic style and wanted a space to display their many wonderful collectibles that they acquired while travelling abroad. Interior Designer, Cassandra Brandow worked with Francesco to create an eclectic look that is sleek and modern, taking inspiration from industrial design concepts. The colour palette combines rich greys and metal tones to highlight the industrial appearance the clients hoped for.
Chestnut Grove created an exclusive colour, named Moldova Grape for the cabinetry. This cool greyish-blue hue is further enhanced by the porcelain backsplash in Valley Front Grey from X-Tile Canada. To create warmth in the space, designers Francesco and Cassandra added distressed wood shelving to the wall adjacent to the oven. The floating shelves are wire-brushed to appear aged and finished with a toasted pecan stain. Undershelf LED lights are installed to brighten the area, allowing for the beams to cascade over the collectibles and appliances housed on the shelves. The luxurious stone countertop is ‘Praa Sands’ from Cambria, chosen because the cool grey and blue veining, surrounded in a creamy white stone, picks up on the deep blue tones of the cabinetry. To maintain the sleek style, black stainless steel appliances finish off this modern-industrial look.
